Hike 0019

It’s been a little while since I updated this site again. I’m still walking regularly though – in fact I’m quite a bit ahead of my goal to walk 1000km before the end of the year. I’m nearly 100km ahead of where I need to be now.
This walk was a good little one, walking along the Ballarat end of the Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail. The actual trail stretches for over 50km and links (you guessed it) Ballarat and Skipton. This day, I walked the first leg between Ballarat and Haddon. The return trip was just over 25km.
I’d walked all summer, a good amout cross country through the bush or on remote tracks and hadn’t seen a snake, yet this day at the end of Autumn and in the drizzling rain I came across a two-foot copperhead coiled on the edge of the track. You never can be too careful in the great Australian outdoors!
